Context
The research project Augmented Perspectives - Create compassion by perspective taking in Augmented Reality.
The Groningen neighbourhood of Selwerd is home to 140 nationalities and many residents on welfare. Everyone lives with their own stress, their own sometimes short fuse, and their own perspective on the world. This creates tensions, between residents, but also between residents on the one hand and agencies or social workers on the other. Small conflicts can therefore lead to large problems.
Together with Wijkbedrijf Selwerd - a place where residents of Selwerd can develop, work and above all work together – we work on developing an Augmented Reality intervention to create more understanding and compassion and reduce tensions between people working and living in the Neighbourhood.
This project is intended as a proof-of-concept case study for the development of a widely deployable and accessible method for resolving conflicts and reducing tensions using VR/AR interventions. The gains knowledge will be used – if the results are hopeful – as input for a follow-up project in which we investigate how VR/AR interventions are scalable and generalizable: in terms of case selection, developing content for the intervention, and implementation of the intervention within a context.
Assignment
We are looking for students that can help in developing the VR/AR intervention based on research done by us for the project and guided by the researchers.
Tasks include:
• Further user research with the target audience
• UX and game design
• 3D design intervention
• Implementation in Unity
• Testing and evaluating with target audience
